Detailed Services Description

Our Services

Atelier KIPU is an interdisciplinary creative practice working across architecture, heritage, public realm, museology, art and research.
We bring together architectural expertise, artistic practice and cultural research to create thoughtful responses to place, community and culture.

Architecture

We provide architectural services from early strategy and briefing through design, documentation and delivery, with particular experience in cultural, civic, residential and adaptive reuse projects.

Services include: feasibility and briefing, concept design, documentation, approvals, consultant coordination, procurement, contract administration, adaptive reuse and sustainable design.

Heritage + Interpretation

We approach heritage as a living relationship between place, people, memory and culture. Our work combines architectural and heritage expertise with research, interpretation and creative practice to conserve significant places while finding meaningful ways for them to evolve.

Services include: heritage assessments, heritage impact assessments, conservation management plans, adaptive reuse, heritage advice, significance assessment, interpretation strategies, heritage research, trails, exhibitions and community engagement.

Public Realm + Cultural Place

We work at the intersection of architecture, landscape, public space, culture and art, helping create places that are meaningful, engaging and responsive to their context.

Services include: public realm and urban design, cultural mapping, site and precinct research, place strategies, interpretation, public art integration, temporary interventions, activation and community engagement.

Museology + Exhibitions

We provide specialist design and strategic services for museums, galleries, archives and cultural organisations, combining architecture, exhibition design, collections knowledge and visitor experience.

Services include: exhibition and interpretive design, museum planning, visitor experience, collection and storage planning, display systems, documentation, fabrication coordination and installation.

Art + Public Art

Our art practice brings together artistic thinking and architectural expertise to develop site-responsive, integrated and public artworks.
We work collaboratively with artists, architects, landscape architects, curators and communities, from early concepts through technical development and delivery.

Services include: public art, artist collaboration, installations, curatorial support, fabrication planning, technical documentation, approvals, procurement and installation.

Research + Creative Practice

Research underpins our approach to architecture, art and place. We use archival research, fieldwork, walking, photography, drawing, mapping and material investigation to uncover relationships between architecture, landscape, memory, migration and culture. Research can inform larger design projects or become an outcome through publications, exhibitions, installations and public programs.

Education + Engagement

We develop opportunities for people to observe, question, investigate, make and experience place differently.
Our work includes lectures, workshops, architectural and heritage walks, community engagement, university teaching, creative research programs and material demonstrations.

Working Across Disciplines

Our strength lies in working between disciplines.

A heritage project may combine architecture, research and interpretation. A public realm project may bring together art, landscape and cultural research. A museum project may require architecture, curatorial thinking and exhibition design.

Atelier KIPU brings these perspectives together to create projects grounded in climate, community and culture.
